RECIPE: Blueberry Smoothie Bowl

As part of her YoYoga blog series on healthy living, nutritionist Barbara Cox is sharing some delicious recipes to boost your chakras. Today’s recipe is nourishing smoothie bowl designed to soothe your throat chakra.

Colour Yourself Healthy – Throat Chakra

Think of foods that are a lovely blue to help boost the throat chakra. Blueberries and blackberries can be extremely nourishing for the throat chakra and can assist with bringing in a much-needed antioxidant boost.  You can also use blue grapes or currants.

Liquid foods are also very important – think about what you would grab if you felt like you were getting a sore throat. Herbal teas such as elderberry tea or liquorice tea can work wonders.

You can also make a miso soup with lots of added wakame or nori seaweed to sooth your throat and nourish your throat chakra.

Try this delicious smoothie bowl recipe to boost your throat chakra:

  • 1 banana (FROZEN) (save a few slices for decoration)
  • ¾ cup fresh blueberries (save a few for decoration)
  • ½ cup fresh blackberries (save a few for decoration)
  • ¾ cup of unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds (and another ¼ tsp for decoration)
  • ¼ cup dairy-free yogurt
  • 1 tbsp raw honey to drizzle on top for decoration and sweetness

  1. In a blender, add the almond milk, frozen banana, fresh blueberries, fresh blackberries, chia seeds and dairy-free yogurt
  2. Blend until smooth
  3. Pour into a bowl
  4. Decorate with sliced banana, fresh berries, chia seeds and drizzle the honey over
  5. Enjoy!
