RECIPE: Seaweed Broth
In the latest instalment of her YoYoga blog series, nutritionist Barbara Cox shares her recipe for a nourishing seaweed broth to cleanse your crown chakra.
Colour Yourself Healthy – Crown Chakra
I believe you’re able to establish the connection between your body and soul through the quality of the food that you consume, and your emotional approach to eating. Foods that can help to boost the crown chakra include aubergine, dulse, seaweed, beetroot, dates, dragon fruit, plums, black grapes and figs.
According to research, fasting and detoxifying are said to be beneficial for the development of the chakra so I’m taking some inspiration from this. I have created a seaweed broth that you can use as a stock or a nourishing broth to cleanse or calm your stomach.
Ingredients
- 4 cups of water
- ½ cup of shiitake mushrooms (fresh or dried) – chopped
- 2 tablespoons of dried seaweed – crushed – I use Mara Seaweed Dulse & Kombu
Method
- Bring the water to a boil
- Add the mushrooms and seaweed flakes
- Simmer for 1 hour
- Let cool and strain
- Sip throughout the day

Understanding chakras
There are seven different chakras and most people will feel an affinity with a particular chakra. At YoYoga we offer a range of yoga mats that are tailored to each chakra, allowing you to choose the mat that best suits you and your body.
