Meet the Partner Q&A: Kate Cadbury

We’re excited to be introducing our new Meet the Partner series.

We want you to be able to get to know the wonderful people that we work with and to create a space to share the health advice and wellbeing wisdom that they’ve discovered on their own journey.

So, if you’re wondering how to establish a routine of your own, or are simply curious about others favourite feel-good tunes, this is the place for you.

What does health and wellness mean to you?

It means a healthy balance between a good diet, exercise, time for you, and time for rest and recovery. I’m a firm believer in everything in moderation – a heathy diet but also enjoying a few treats, exercising but not going crazy, some time out for you and rest can be as important as exercise – keep the balance and you will be healthy and well.

What is one of the most important things you look for in your fitness mat?

Non slip but also not one that creates friction, comfort, easy to roll up and store, easy to clean and of course it looking goooood!

What kind of activities do you use your YoYoga mat for?

Pilates and HIIT classes, stretching.

What is an average day in the life for you?

Busy! I tend to get up early and jump on the bike or go out for a run. Its then back for breakfast with the kids and then the school run. I then normally teach an online Pilates class for 45 minutes and after that head to our physiotherapy practice, Cadbury Physiotherapy and see patients there until it’s time for the school run again! It’s then after school clubs, dinner, kids bed time and then either teaching another Pilates class which is the perfect evening wind down or an evening of making the lunches, tidying up and perhaps a little bit of TV before bed!

What motivates you?

Doing what I love. I’m passionate about helping others and our company ethos is about enabling others to live their life to the fullest, whether that’s helping them with physiotherapy or Pilates. When you know people benefit from what you do and you love what you do you will always stay motivated. I’m a big advocator of movement helping both mentally and physically as I see for myself how it can help me. So, when I know the benefits of exercise, it’s easy to stay motivated.

What do you do to improve your mental wellbeing when feeling low?

Exercise – whether that’s running, cycling, Pilates or HIIT workouts… exercise is my ‘go to’ for a happy, positive day.

Do you have any tips on how to establish a healthy routine?

Find something you enjoy. Understand how exercise can help you and believe in it. Find a time that works for you to exercise and schedule it into your week and keep it a priority. Don’t feel you have to exercise for hours; find something you can fit into your busy schedule. Often shorter 30-minute workouts can be more effective than longer less intense workouts. Try and eat healthy throughout the week and then perhaps relax a bit more at the weekend.

What is your favourite way to refuel after a workout?

I usually workout first thing in the morning so refuel with a bowl of homemade muesli which has all the good seeds in it! Lots of fresh berries, banana Greek yoghurt and cinnamon – perfect!

What is your favourite colour in the world and why?

Aqua blue – it reminds me of the crystal-clear sea.

What is your go to song that always gets you feeling energised?

Very old school but ‘Walking on Sunshine’!

Thank you Kate, we’re adding ‘Walking on Sunshine’ to our Spotify playlist as we speak!
